The trademark of being a Christian are the following:

1. Devoted in prayer:  As a Christian, we must devote ourselves in prayer (v.2). We should always remember that “prayer is a lifestyle.”  We must give our whole life in prayer. 1Thes. 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing.” Whatever, whenever and wherever we are, we should pray. Romans 7:12 also says, “Keep on praying.” Because prayer is the backbone of any church and every Christian. A faithful servant should manifest a prayerful life. Remember when Jesus prayed all night, it only shows that He is our model and savior. We should persevere in our prayer. Because it is one of the trademarks of being a Christian. We are branded by the name of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit within us.

What does it mean to be devoted in prayer?

  1. Stickability. It means that nothing can separate us from God.
  2. Steadfast. It means that we are devoted.
  3. Single focus on Jesus. Prayer is not just asking what we want from the Lord. It is a deep relationship with Jesus.
  4. Perseverance. We should have endurance in prayer.
  5. Courage. It means that Jesus is with us. We should be bold in prayer.
  6. Readiness. We should be prepared no matter what happens.

2. With a passion for sharing the gospel: In 2 Timothy says, “Share the gospel in season and out of season” and Romans 1:16 also says, “I am proud of the good news! It is God’s powerful way of saving all people who have faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.” We should not be ashamed in sharing the Gospel with the other people. It is not us who moves in the lives of other people, but it is the power of Jesus.

What does Gospel mean?

G -o into all the world

O -bedience is required

S -alvation is provided

P -reaching is commanded

E -ternal life is promised

L -ove has provided

3. Conduct yourselves wisely: We should conduct our works wisely. In Proverbs 20:11 says, “The good or bad that children do shows what they are like.” In Philippians 1:27 also tells us that, “Above all else, you must live in a way that brings honor to the good news of Christ. Then, whether I visit you or not, I will hear that all of you think alike. I will know that you are working together and that you re struggling side by side to get others to believe the good news.” Let us be watchful in our words and deeds.

4. Speak with grace and seasoned with salt:  In Matthew 5:13 says, “You are like salt for everyone on earth. But if salt no longer tastes like salt, how can it make any food tastier? All of it is good to be thrown outside.” That is what a faithful servant looks like if he has a dull life. Do we preserve the life of other people? By demonstrating our life? We, Christians are the salt of the earth. Salt made to preserved other people’s lives. In Proverbs 18:21 says, “Words can bring death or life! Talk too much, and you will eat everything you say.” There is power in the tongue. It means life or death. Let your words give life to other people.

5. Faithful minister of the Lord: In Colossians, v.7 says, “Tychicus is the dear friend, who faithfully works and serves the Lord with us, and he will give you the news about me.” Paul introduced his friend Tychicus as a faithful minister and fellow servant of the Lord. As a fellow servant of the Lord, we should be ready at all times in giving prayer to those needy people.
